Touring the Willamette Falls
Today, I had the incredible opportunity to partake in a ULI (Urban Land Institute) tour of the incredible Willamette Falls led by former Oregon governor Kate Brown. The falls have an incredible history dating back thousands of years to when they were used by former native tribes people for spiritual, fishing, commerce, and other purposes.
Having spent practically my entire life in West Linn, the opportunity to see the falls up close in person was truly incredible an incredible experience, especially given that public access to the site is closed.
We’ve still about 5 years until redevelopment of the site begins. The Willamette Falls trust has yet to reach a deal to secure full ownership and development rights to the locks (owned by the army corps) and mill and Moore’s island (owned by PGE). There is certainly a lot to look forward to with respect to the future of this beautiful and wonderful site.
